Beginning in November and December, visitors to the Central Highlands will have a chance to join local farmers to harvest coffee beans.
Farmers often start their days early in the morning. They spread a large canvas under coffee trees to catch ripe coffee beans plucked from branches. The canvas is pulled from tree to tree until it is full with beans. Farmers then remove leaves and branches from the beans and expose the beans under the sun.
The exposure time depends on the weather conditions, normally from six to 30 days. After that, coffee beans are sold to factories or processed by farmers themselves.
Many people often mistake that coffee beans have a distinct aroma, but actually they only have an aroma after being roasted. Each family has their own secret to create the aroma and flavor for their products.
In March, coffee trees bloom again, starting a new cycle.
